What's in the bag...

I often get asked 'what kit do you carry to a wedding' so I've decided to empty the case and see what really is in there...

  • The Case
    • Peli 1510, I love this case, it holds a mountain of kit, its very strong (I stand on it when I need extra height) and its on wheels.  In the case are:
  •  The Cameras, Lenses and Flash
    • Two Nikon D300 bodies
    • Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 DC HSM
    • Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 DC EX MACRO HSM
    • Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 II EX DG MACRO HSM II
    • Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 D AF
    • Holga 60mm f/8 HL-N
    • Two Nikon Speedlight SB-800 flashes
    • Six 8Gb CF cards
  • Accessories
    • Batteries
      • 24 rechargable AA
      • 8 rechargable AAA
      • 4 D300 rechargables
      • Charger for the AAs
      • Charger for the camera batteries
    • Filters
      • UV fitted to all lenses
      • Circular Polorising and ND for all lenses
      • Macro close up set
    • Lighting
      • Stofens for the 800s
      • Stands for the 800s
      • Gel kit
      • Wireless flash trigger set
      • Torch
    • Bits and Bobs
      • Battery Cases
      • USB CF card reader
      • USB 3G dongle
      • USB cables
      • Mains cables
      • Rolls of electric tape
      • Spare lens and body caps
      • Business cards
      • 2 lens cleaning cloths
      • Sensor cleaning kit
      • Pens
      • Padlock
      • Quick release tripod plate
      • Ball loop bungees
      • Remote shutter release

I try, when possible, to set up a mobile studio to shoot portraits of couples and groups during the lull between the Wedding Breakfast and the Evening shindig. I prefer the 'strobist' approach to lighting and so the following kit is in the car ready:

  • Lighting Stands
  • Shoot through umbrellas
  • Manfrotto tripod
  • 5 in 1 circular reflector
Other stuff that I also take to every wedding includes:
  • HTC Nexus S mobile phone
  • Garmin Sat Nav
  • Fujitsu Laptop
  • 6 large ivory umbrellas
